Welcome to one of the greatest challenges you will face in creating natural soap. How do you get that natural color that you’ve been looking for? Thanks to the questions and comments of members of the Natural Soap Forum group on Facebook, a compilation of 107 natural colorants has been created. This book includes guidance and recommendations on how to get the best application and experience in your endeavor. It includes a complete explanation and the usage of cold and warm infusions; pH testing natural colorants for potential color changes; the truth about lye and a botanical infusion tracking chart that you can download.

The best way to use this book is to look up the specific material that is listed in the table of content to see what colors it can produce. Once you have located the desired natural product, you can read about its properties and investigate the types of colors it can produce. Remember to read all of the recommendations to get the most desired effects.

I bought this book with high expectations, but I found that the colors just do not come out as the author stipulated. This is quite obviously a self published book by an amateur and is not worth your time. There are several excellent books for those interested in soap making but this is not one of them.

I simply cannot wait to try these out. Such great ideas! You get the full range of colors with stuff you can p/u at the market instead of always having to order online (and CHEAP!) plus the benefit of having them be natural and depending on what you choose to buy also organic. Finally, many have almost medicinal aspects to them, ieclear up acne, mousturize, get rid of wrinkles, etc.

She also gives the info on things like what each is, for instance, tomato is fruit first cultivated from such and such an area (poor memory) - so for those of you who know not what comphrey is for instance and what it's used for will get a brief but good intro to that info. This aspect is no where near exhaustive but who would want it to be? I know while I might find it interesting to know where first cucumbers were cultivated and why it's used on eyes in salons, I don't want to read paragraphs or God forbid chapters on that subject but rather get to the point on how to use in soap and what color it will produce. While she is not exhaustive there either, she definitely gives enough info to get you going and it will be fun experimenting to see what outcomes you'll get.

I'm very pleased. This will be a much used resource! A GREAT reference book (I love reference books - so handy!!). Muchos recommendos (probably not correct word, we'll call it Spanglish!)
I purchased this kindle book the minute I knew it was available. I also have another of Daryl's books and enjoyed his easy writing style.

107 Natural Colorants for Cold Process Soap is an amazing compilation of natural colorants, all in one easy to read reference book. Each colorant is dealt with alphabetically, so searching for a particular colorant that you want to use, at any given time, is easy and quick. There are suggestions on whether to infuse the colorant in oil or not (depending on how it performs), adding the colorant at trace, or adding the colorant to your lye to extract the most from it. Each colorant has a photo of where it is obtained i.e. leaves or flowers for example.

If you love natural colorants for your soap making, this book is a must for you. Every colorant you can think of is listed here in this book, altogether, compiled alphabetically for you to read and start using in your soap. If you even think you may want to use natural colorants in the future, I urge you to purchase this book as a handy clear and concise reference for your future soap making.
Pretty decent reference book, but does not have some of the colorants I had expected to be included.
This book is very helpful for hot process soap makers also that choose to use natural colorants in their products. Included is a wide range of botanicals and clays with information on each.
This book is great! I refer to it often in considering natural colorants for my soap making. I don't have time to surf around on the internet looking for soap colorant information that may or may not be accurate. 107 natural colorants all in one reference is very helpful and inspiring.
This is so useful to those who do not want to use synthetic lab colors for soap! I make cold process soap for a reason, it is so much better for your skin! Why anyone would want to add chemicals to their beautiful soap is beyond me. These are simple ideas of how to get natural colors for your soaps.
I would highly recommend this to anyone. It is very informative. The author is very knowledgeable and very easy for anyone to comprehend..
